Media Coverage: Saint Luke’s Celebrates NICU Family Resilience at Annual Reunion

Nearly 100 former Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) babies, along with their parents and siblings, returned to Saint Luke's Hospital of Kansas City to celebrate success and resilience at the annual NICU reunion.

The NICU graduates had the opportunity to reunite with the nurses and providers who cared for them in the earliest days of their lives.

Karen Rieth and her twin children, Alex and Adam, made the trek from New Mexico to celebrate how far the now 25-year-olds have come since they were born premature at 29 weeks. Karen spoke with KSHB about the meaning of this special event for her family.

Josi Hake, a mother of two young children who were born premature at Saint Luke's, talked with KMBC about what it meant to reunite with the nurses who cared for her son during his 143 days in the NICU.
