Hedrick Medical Center to update its integrated electronic medical record system on October 1

CHILLICOTHE, MO (Sept. 21, 2017) – On October 1, physicians and clinicians associated with Saint Luke’s Health System, including family practice providers, specialists, home care, imaging, laboratory and more, will update their current electronic medical record (EMR) system to the Epic EMR system, which will enable the secure sharing of a single health record for every Saint Luke’s patient.

“Moving to the Epic system will provide better security for our patients’ information, and enable important health information sharing among a patient’s care providers, no matter where they receive care within the Saint Luke’s system,” said Steve Schieber, CEO of Hedrick Medical Center. “Saint Luke’s has been successfully using this system since 2014, and based on its proven efficiency and benefit for patients, we are excited to implement it here.”

The physicians and staff at Hedrick Medical Center have been deeply involved in developing the  electronic medical record workflow and process, and are committed to using its tools to offer a better health care experience for their patients.

Clinicians across care settings will now have access to a patient’s health history and medical progress, and will be able to order and review tests and medications to ensure transparency and higher quality care. For better efficiency, patients will receive one consolidated bill for services received after October 1 at Hedrick Medical Center or any other Saint Luke’s Health System facility.

Patients will be able to access their health information, test results and billing online through the mySaintLuke's patient portal, found at the Saint Luke’s website (saintlukeskc.org), or by downloading the mySaintLuke's app for smart devices, which is available both in iOS and Android formats.

At a patient’s initial visit following the October 1 launch, he or she may need to provide some additional information, as physicians and clinicians will be updating records and getting up to speed during the transition. But staff will be available to answer questions that patients might have.
