CHILLICOTHE, Mo. — Numerous Hedrick Medical Center employees were recently honored for their years of service at the hospital’s annual Winter Celebration. This year’s theme was Tailgating and the celebration was held at the Chillicothe Elks Lodge on Jan. 31. It was attended by approximately 200 people.
 
Thirty staff members were awarded for their years of service to Hedrick Medical Center. They were:

Dorothy Wooden, RN, was also honored at the Winter Celebration as the 2014 Employee of the Year. Wooden was chosen by the Employee of the Quarter Selection Committee to receive the 2nd Quarter of 2014 Employee of the Quarter award. The Executive Council then chose Dorothy as the 2014 Employee of the Year from the four Employee of the Quarter recipients for 2014. In addition to Wooden, the Employee of the Quarter recipients were Angie Snyder, Medical Surgical; Trevor James, Emergency; and Leonora McCollum, Nutrition Services.
 
Wooden was described in her nomination form as being, “a team leader in the Surgery Department who is knowledgeable and skilled in every single role the department provides. She displays the core values on a daily basis and serves as a role model for peers. Dorothy demonstrates excellent teamwork by always being willing to help out when and where needed with never a complaint. She delivers outstanding care to her patients and makes patients feel at ease by taking care of the smallest details for them.”  
 
Dorothy enjoys spending time with her family. She likes to read and work on the farm with her husband, Shawn.  She also loves to spend time playing with her grandson Gabe.
 
In recognition of the Employee of the Year award, Wooden received the parking space of her choice for a year, her picture posted and name engraved on a permanent plaque displayed in the hospital, a cash award, recognition at the Saint Luke’s Health System annual awards luncheon, a wall clock with recognition plaque, and a two-night getaway at Big Cedar Lodge or Great Wolf Lodge.
