Hedrick Medical Center and Livingston County Health Center To Host Fall Prevention Event

CHILLICOTHE, Mo. – Hedrick Medical Center, in partnership with Livingston County Health Center, will be holding an Aging in Place event focused on fall prevention. The Fall Prevention Fair will take place on Wednesday, September 21, from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. in The Gardens at Hedrick Medical Center.

“Many things can cause a person to fall,” says Luci Skaggs, Rehabilitation Manager, Hedrick Medical Center. “It could be your eyesight, hearing, or maybe a person’s reflexes aren’t sharp as they once were. Additionally, diseases and health conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, or foot issues, among other causes, can affect balance. In some instances, medications can cause a person to feel lightheaded, dizzy, or sleepy, which can also make a person more likely to fall.”

The event will feature various screenings and information booths, all designed to help educate attendees on potential fall risks, tips on avoiding falls, and health assessments that can determine whether medical interventions could help reduce the risk of falls.

The event is free to attend, and attendees will have the opportunity to win door prizes donated by the vendors at the event. For more information about the event, persons can contact Luci Skaggs at 660-214-8170 or Ann Burchett at 660-646-5506.
