FOX4: New device helps patients severe with heartburn and acid reflux

One in five adults in the United States have gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD)—and that number is growing. If you have frequent heartburn or acid reflux, we can help. A new device can help patients with severe heartburn and acid reflux get back to a more normal life - LINX.

“It's basically a bracelet of magnets, which are attracted to each other, and it rests. They're all touching," said Dr. Todd Moore, a surgical specialist at Saint Luke's Heartburn and Acid Reflux Center. "As you eat and as food passes through, those magnets separate to allow the food to pass through. And once that passes through, they all attract again together and connect, which keeps you from refluxing."

One woman tells her story to FOX4 about how the LINX device changed her life.
