The Anderson County Hospital Auxiliary has awarded $500 scholarships to two high school seniors who plan to study nursing following graduation.

The $500 scholarships are offered annually to graduates of an Anderson County high school who are planning a career in a medical or health care related field.

Reagan Witherspoon and Brenna Kohlmeier, both graduating seniors from Anderson County High School in Garnett, have been named as the 2024 recipients.

Both students are pursuing careers in nursing and will attend Neosho County Community College in the fall to complete their prerequisite courses. Witherspoon plans to continue her training through Labette Community College in Parsons, Kansas. Kohlmeier plans to transfer to Emporia State University in Emporia, Kansas, to complete her degree in nursing.

Nancy Horn presented the scholarships on behalf of the auxiliary during a recognition event held at the high school. Horn is a long-time member and past president of the Anderson County Hospital Auxiliary. She currently holds a state-level office as the Hospital Volunteers of Kansas District 2 Coordinator.
