Collection Procedure:

1. Draw blood.  Do not separate. 
2. Protect the specimen from light using the amber plastic transport tube with amber screw cap.

3. If amber tubes are not available, cover a standard transport tube completely, top to bottom, with aluminum foil. 
4. Identify the specimen with the patient's name directly on the container and the outside of the aluminum foil.

Specimen Processing:

To avoid delays in turn around time when requesting multiple tests on frozen samples, submit separate frozen specimens for each test requested.

Store and Transport:
Frozen
Unacceptable Condition:

Receipt of non-frozen sample, plasma or serum specimen, or specimen not protected from light.
