Specimen Processing:

1. Allow specimen to clot for 15-20 minutes at room temperature. Separate from cells within 2 hours of collection. Transfer the serum to a plastic transport tube with screw cap. The specimen should be frozen immediately and maintained frozen until tested.
2. To avoid delays in turn around time when requesting multiple tests on frozen samples, submit a separate frozen sample for each test requested.

Plasma or cord blood. Grossly hemolyzed or lipemic specimens.
