Preferred Volume:
Seven 3mL tubes
Specimen Processing:

1.  TEST SHOULD BE ORDERED STAT.
2.  Do not centrifuge. 
3.  Forward the unprocessed whole blood promptly at room temperature only.
4. Specimens cannot be transported by a pneumatic tube system.
5.  Please indicate on the requisition form if epinephrine-induced aggregation studies are requested.
6. Specimens must arrive between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. and within 2 hours of collection. Testing must be completed within 4 hours of collection. (If specimen is received > 2 hrs from collection time, consult with Hematology as to whether testing can still be completed within 4 hours of collection.)
7. Please call the Hematology Dept. at (816) 932-2415 prior to sending the specimens.

The following antagonists are routinely run: adenosine-5'-diphosphate (ADP) 5.0 μM and 10.0 μM, arachidonic acid, collagen, ristocetin and dilute ristocetin. Epinephrine-induced aggregation studies available upon request.

Normal aggregation with ADP, arachidonic acid, collagen and ristocetin
