Patient Preparation:

Patient should avoid ingestion of Vitamin C for 24 hours prior to sample collection.

Lavender top (EDTA) or green top (heparin) tube

2 mL
Minimum Volume:
1.5 mL
Specimen Processing:

Place tube on wet ice immediately after collection! Plasma must be separated from cells within 60 minutes of collection. Freeze immediately in a plastic transfer tube with a screw cap.

After separation from cells:
Frozen - 7 days
Refrigerated - Not Stable
Room temperature - Not Stable

Unacceptable Condition:

Samples that are not plasma, specimens received refrigerated or room temperature.
