Collection Procedure:
1. Separate the serum or plasma from the cells within 1 hour of collection.
2. A trough specimen is usually drawn 30 minutes prior to the next dose.
3. If testing is delayed more than 2 hours from the time of specimen collection, then the serum or plasma needs to be frozen until tested.
4. Indicate the specimen type on the request form and on the tube.
5. The date and time of collection are required on the request form for processing.
