Support Patients with Metastatic Breast Cancer
A young athlete is raising his game by raising money for patients with breast cancer to take part in the Journey of Courage and Hope Retreat.
Living with metastatic breast cancer presents significant challenges, both for patients as well as support persons. Brady Krysiewicz, a 12-year-old goalkeeper at Sporting Kansas City Academy, has family members who have battled breast cancer, which motivated him to start Keeper for a Cure. The organization raises money for breast cancer awareness, funding, and research.
Brady has identified The Journey of Courage and Hope Retreat, presented by Saint Luke's Hospital of Kansas City Koontz Center for Advanced Breast Cancer as the beneficiary of proceeds from Keeper for the Cure. This retreat is a chance for women and men with metastatic breast cancer to experience healing and renewal with their support person at a relaxing location.
The Journey of Courage and Hope Retreat
The retreat focuses on themes of loss and change, hope over despair, and finding strength and meaning during struggle. It offers time for group discussion, yoga, massage, nature walks, and spiritual and emotional reflection on the journey of metastatic breast cancer.
Professional counselors help explore topics relating to relationships, fear, coping, grief, and loss. Legacy work also is offered to allow participants to prepare for the future with comfort.
