Dr. Hamburg has been practicing endocrinology at Saint Luke's Hospital since 1984.  His practice encompasses all areas of endocrinology with special interests in diabetes and thyroid disease.  Dr.  Hamburg is the Medical Director of the Saint Luke’s Diabetes Center, which has attained continuous ADA recognition since 1991.

He is a charter member of AACE (American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists) and a Fellow of the American College of Endocrinology (FACE). He is also a member of the Endocrine Society and the American Diabetes Association.

Dr. Hamburg has been consistently listed in Kansas City's Best Doctors receiving Endocrinologist of the Decade in 2000.  He has been listed as a Super Doctor since the inception of the award in 2007.

Dr. Hamburg went to medical school at the University of Kansas Medical Center. He did his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Northwestern University Medical Center and his Fellowship in Endocrinology and Metabolism at George Washington University Medical Center.
