Saint Luke’s today announced Bobby Olm-Shipman has been named president of Saint Luke’s Hospital of Kansas City, effective Feb. 1, 2026.

Olm-Shipman, who currently serves as president of Saint Luke’s South and East Region—which includes Saint Luke’s East Hospital, Saint Luke’s South Hospital, and Saint Luke’s Rehabilitation Institute—will succeed Jani Johnson, RN, MSN, who announced her retirement earlier this year after nearly 40 years of service with Saint Luke’s.

In his new role as president of Saint Luke’s Hospital of Kansas City, Olm-Shipman will also provide leadership and oversight to Saint Luke’s Hospital Crittenton Children’s Center, Saint Luke’s Bishop Spencer Place, and Saint Luke’s research and medical education programs.

“Through times of growth and change, Bobby has demonstrated strong leadership at Saint Luke’s and has dedicated more than two decades to serving our patients, caregivers, and the community,” said Julie Quirin, president of Saint Luke’s, the West Region of BJC Health. “Under his leadership, Saint Luke’s East Hospital has consistently been ranked as one of Missouri’s top 10 hospitals by U.S. News & World Report, and Saint Luke’s South Hospital has earned a five-star quality rating by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) for nine consecutive years.

“We are deeply grateful to Jani for the impact she has made on Saint Luke’s and the Kansas City-area over the past 40 years and for her commitment to delivering the best care possible, from bedside nurse to her bold and compassionate leadership of Saint Luke’s flagship hospital.”

Olm-Shipman’s other key accomplishments include overseeing the $57 million expansion of Saint Luke’s East Hospital that was completed earlier this year, as well as the opening of Saint Luke’s Rehabilitation Institute in 2019, and the launch of the Saint Luke’s Community Hospital model in 2018.

Olm-Shipman joined Saint Luke’s in 2003. Prior to his current role, he served as CEO of Saint Luke’s South Hospital with oversight of the former Saint Luke’s Cushing Hospital in Leavenworth, Kansas; was vice president of strategic planning and the project management office; led a Saint Luke’s-wide initiative aimed at enhancing operational efficiency; and managed operations for Saint Luke’s neuroscience program. In 2024, he was named to the Kansas City Business Journal’s 20 Health Care Professionals to Know in the Kansas City area.

He has been involved in numerous local, state, and national health care and civic organizations, including being an active member of the Kansas Hospital Association and its board of directors. In 2024, Olm-Shipman served a one-year term as chair of the Kansas Hospital Association board of directors, responsible for guiding the 21-member governing board that oversees the organization’s strategic activities and leading the organization on crafting its 2025-2027 strategic plan.

Saint Luke’s is in the process of searching for Olm-Shipman’s successor as president of Saint Luke’s South Hospital and Saint Luke’s East Hospital.
