KSHB: After Surviving SCAD, Nurse Practitioner Shares Powerful Message of Advocacy, Support
Some of the strongest bonds are forged during times of crisis. Layne Strookman, a 35-year-old nurse practitioner and mother of three, found this to be true when she suffered two heart attacks caused by spontaneous coronary artery dissection, also known as SCAD.
Now, Layne shares a strong bond with the care team that saved her life, including her ICU nurse, Molly Young, and Dr. Anna Grodzinsky, a cardiologist at Saint Luke's Mid America Heart Institute.
