Iola Register: Maternity service ended because of risk, ACRH administrator says

Saint Luke's Health System announced earlier this month Allen County Regional Hospital will be ending its maternity service in November.

The decision came down to protecting patients from risk because the community just has one obstetrics provider. The hospital has also had a very low number of deliveries in previous years.

The Iola Register talked to Elmore Patterson, administrator of ACRH, about the move and new services Saint Luke's is investing in that will affect a greater number of patients.
