FOX 4: KC Doctors, Mothers Speak Out About Maternal Deaths in Missouri & Kansas

As of 2022, the CDC statistics suggested that Missouri was the sixth worst in terms of maternal mortality in the nation. 

To combat rising maternal mortality, researchers at Saint Luke's Mid America Heart Institute and UMKC are leading a first of its kind study to create better care for moms with heart conditions during pregnancy.

Dr. Anna Grodzinsky, cardiologist at Saint Luke’s Mid America Heart Institute and investigator in the HOPE Study, spoke with Fox 4 about the four-year observational study that covers 36 hospitals and 1,000 patients with cardiovascular conditions during and after pregnancy.
