GammaTile® Radiation Therapy
Saint Luke's Neuro-oncology experts at Saint Luke’s Marion Bloch Neuroscience Institute offer GammaTile®, a novel targeted radiation therapy for brain tumors.
During the procedure, the brain tumor is removed, and the GammaTile is placed. The tile focuses radiation directly in the spot where the tumor originally grew.
The size of a postage stamp, GammaTile is designed to protect healthy brain tissue and minimize radiation side effects, such as hair loss. Radiation works by damaging tumor cell DNA, so they are unable to replicate and eventually die. Over time, the body naturally absorbs the collagen tile.
The GammaTile limits the need for repeat radiation treatments, allowing patients more time to do what they love.
