About Megan Mayer, MD
Megan Mayer, MD, FAAOS, is a fellowship-trained, board-certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in hip and knee arthroscopic procedures, as well as sports medicine. She employs the most current treatment techniques to alleviate pain and restore function and an active lifestyle for her patients.
Dr. Mayer received her medical doctorate, graduating with honors from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine, Kansas City. She completed a residency in 2017 in orthopedic surgery at the Campbell Clinic through the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis. She has also completed a Sports Medicine Fellowship at Methodist Sports Medicine affiliated with Indiana University in Indianapolis. In addition, she has acquired specialized training in hip arthroscopy at University Hospitals Cleveland with Case Western.
As a graduate of Lee's Summit High School, Dr. Mayer is excited to be practicing in her hometown. She has history as a student athlete and is familiar with sports injuries"”she sustained an injury while in college and was treated by our own Gerald Dugan, MD, in 2004. After a period of rehabilitation, she was able to return to participating in sports. She understands the student athlete.
"I naturally enjoy working with the athletic population in general," she said.
In a sense, Dr. Mayer has come full circle in her career, and she is excited about the opportunity to help patients continue to enjoy an active and fulfilling lifestyle.
