Saint Luke's Valve & Structural Heart Center
About David Skolnick, MD
David Skolnick, MD, a board-certified cardiologist, is the Medical Director of the Valve Center of Excellence at Saint Luke’s Mid America Heart Institute (MAHI) and Director of the Echocardiography Laboratory at Saint Luke’s Health System.
He graduated from Columbia University in New York City. Before matriculating at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, he worked as a chemistry research assistant at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, Switzerland. His subsequent training was at Washington University in Louis followed by a cardiology fellowship at Indiana University.
Dr. Skolnick has twice received the teacher-of-the-year award from the cardiology fellows at the UMKC School of Medicine. For 10 years, he served at the Program Director for the annual 2-day Dr. Robert D. Conn Heart Conference. In 2024, when he stepped down from that role, he received the Distinguished Service Award from MAHI in recognition of his dedication to the Conference. In 2025, he was instrumental in creating the inaugural KC Valves conference. This new educational initiative was designed to educate the cardiology community about important advances in the field of heart valve disease.
Dr. Skolnick has been an integral part of the valve heart team at Saint Luke’s since 2010. Our team has brought game-changing technology to Saint Luke’s, which allows patients to undergo catheter-based procedures to repair or replacement heart valves. His leadership role focuses on creating a more robust Valve Center, one that remains on the leading edge of science and one that ensures that patients with valve disease can have timely access to care at Saint Luke’s.

Reviews & Ratings
Recent Patient Reviews
The Patient Satisfaction Rating is an average of all responses to the care provider related questions shown below from our survey. Patients that are treated in outpatient or hospital environments may receive different surveys, and the volume of responses will vary by question.
We refer to Saint Luke’s providers as well as independent providers credentialed at a Saint Luke’s facility. Providers make no payments for these referrals and our selections are based on your needs and preferences.
