KSHB: New Cancer Treatment at Saint Luke’s Extends Kansas Woman’s Life Expectancy
In 2023, Alexis Ellington was diagnosed with stage 4 small cell lung cancer. Doctors gave her two to three months to live.
That was before she found Dr. Dhruv Bansal, director of precision and thoracic oncology at Saint Luke's Cancer Institute, in September of 2024. He introduced her to a new FDA-approved treatment called Bispecific T-cell Engagers therapy, or BiTE.
KSHB talked with Ellington and Dr. Bansal about this new treatment option that gave her renewed hope and is extending her time with loved ones.
