Postgraduate training programs for Advanced Practice Providers (APPs)—including Nurse Practitioners (NPs) and Physician Assistants/Associates (PAs)—have become increasingly common as health care grows more complex and the demand for highly skilled clinicians in specialty areas continues to rise.
Why choose Saint Luke's APP Fellowship?
Saint Luke’s Advanced Practice Provider Fellowship Program is a recognized pathway for supporting new NP and PA graduates as they transition into practice. The program is designed to strengthen clinical readiness, build professional confidence, and improve long-term retention in complex specialties.
Our nine-month postgraduate training program offers fellows:

Through structured training, mentorship, and hands-on experience, the program equips APP fellows with the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to provide high-quality, compassionate care in today’s evolving health care landscape.
Specialty areas
Our postgraduate training program is offered in the following specialties, providing the opportunity for fellows to complete the program with the skills and confidence to offer superior care in their area of specialty:
Profile
Established in 2017, Saint Luke’s Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Fellowship Program was created to support newly graduated APPs as they transition into clinical practice. The program initially launched with three specialty tracks, designed to provide focused training and mentorship in key areas of care.
After the first year, the fellowship evolved into a universal model to further meet the needs of Saint Luke’s growing workforce. This expanded structure now offers a comprehensive, supportive postgraduate training program for all new graduate APPs, regardless of their practice setting. The program ensures participants gain the clinical confidence, knowledge, and professional support needed to succeed across a wide range of specialties.
Program structure
In addition to supporting new graduates, the fellowship also includes a hybrid track for experienced APPs who are transitioning into a new specialty area of practice, helping them adapt their skills and expand their clinical expertise.
The nine-month fellowship program provides a structured learning environment that combines clinical experience with professional development. Enrollment occurs asynchronously throughout the year, allowing new fellows to join the program based on the hiring needs of Saint Luke’s.
Outcomes
Since its launch, the fellowship has demonstrated strong outcomes for both participants and the organization. The program maintains a 96% completion rate, and 95% of participating APPs remain with Saint Luke’s three years after completing the fellowship. These results reflect the program’s success in supporting professional development, strengthening clinical readiness, and improving long-term APP retention.
