Saint Luke's Foundation helped Saint Luke's East raise $220,000 with an annual event, "Boo Ball"

On October 27th, the soul of Las Vegas came to the heart of Lee’s Summit at the 2018 Boo Ball Viva Las Vegas, a benefit for Saint Luke’s East Hospital. Nearly $220,000 was raised to support the purchase of new stroke perfusion software for the Emergency Department at Saint Luke’s East Hospital.

The Boo Ball is one of the premier events in Eastern Jackson County, and this year’s Viva Las Vegas theme did not disappoint. The Pavilion at John Knox Village was transformed into a trip down the Las Vegas strip. Guests were greeted by the King of Rock n Roll, Elvis Presley, indulged in a Las Vegas-style buffet of amazing food and cocktails, and even got to try their luck at a variety of casino games. The live and silent auctions featured a variety of amazing trips, experiences and other special items, including rare bottles of wine and spirits, a hot air balloon ride, and tickets to Kansas City Chiefs games.

Saint Luke’s East is the leading provider of acute stroke care in Jackson County, treating an average of 5-8 strokes in the Emergency Department every day. This software purchased with the proceeds from the Boo Ball has the capacity to cut in half typical treatment times from ninety minutes to forty-five minutes, greatly enhancing the recovery rates of stroke patients. Following the live auction, the winners of the costume contest were announced.

Founded in 2006, Saint Luke’s East Hospital is a 201-bed facility conveniently located on the corner of Interstate 470 and Douglas Street in Lee’s Summit, Missouri. Since the hospital’s opening, Saint Luke’s East has grown every year to ensure it continues to meet the needs of the community it serves.
