One Saint Luke’s East patient took time on Christmas Eve to show appreciation for nurses and other health care workers who are spending the holidays at the hospital caring for others.

Murad Hasam returned to the hospital to decorate the staff courtyard and present a proclamation, signed by the Mayor of Lee's Summit, declaring Dec. 24 as "Nurses Appreciation Day."

FOX4 talked to Murad and Nate Jones, a house supervisor at Saint Luke's East Hospital, about the show of gratitude.
