FOX4: Saint Luke's and UMKC Leading Nationwide Study on Pregnant People with Heart Conditions

Saint Luke’s Mid America Heart Institute and the University of Missouri-Kansas City Healthcare Institute for Innovations in Quality are joining forces to lead a nationwide, four-year observational study of cardiovascular conditions in pregnancy.

The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) awarded more than $8.3 million to the UMKC Healthcare Institute for Innovations in Quality to study 1,000 pregnant individuals with heart conditions. Heart disease is the leading cause of maternal mortality.
