FOX4: Meet the 'Baby Whisperer,' A Saint Luke's Volunteer Who Cares for the Tiniest, Most Vulnerable Patients

It is National Volunteer Appreciation Week, and one special volunteer at Saint Luke's Hospital of Kansas City is entrusted with caring for some of the most vulnerable patients. 

FOX4 talked to Bob McElwain, who has been volunteering in Saint Luke's NICU Baby Cuddler program for five years, about his important job.

"I just put the babies here on my chest," McElwain said. "They can feel my voice and they can also hear me, and it just seems to be very soothing, they just sleep through the whole thing."
