The University of Missouri–Kansas City (UMKC) School of Medicine opened in 1971 as the result of more than a decade of community efforts to establish a medical school in Kansas City, Missouri.

Each academic year, the neurology residency program, through the University of Missouri–Kansas City and Saint Luke’s Hospital, provides three residents opportunities to train at one of the top neurology hospitals in the country, as ranked by U.S. News & World Report.
