KSHB: ‘It’s a Journey To Be Back’: Family Reflects on 100 Days in NICU More Than 20 Years Ago
On the heels of their college graduation, twins reunite with the Saint Luke's Hospital of Kansas City NICU team.
1 minuteMore than two decades ago, twins Payton and Annika were born prematurely at just 25 and a half weeks. They survived, against all odds, after 100 days in the neonatal intensive care unit at Saint Luke's Hospital of Kansas City.
Now, after their college graduation, Payton and Annika returned to the unit with their mother to reunite with the care team that helped fight for their survival.
KSHB talked with the family and Liz Nichols, a nurse at Saint Luke's who cared for the twins over 20 years ago.
