KCTV: Woman’s Innovative Breast Cancer Surgery Cuts Recovery Time in Half
How direct-to-implant breast reconstruction surgery with Saint Luke's saved one patient extra time, money, and physical and mental stress.
1 minuteIn 2023, 52-year-old Annmarie Neal found a lump in her right breast. An MRI confirmed breast cancer, and soon she was discussing options for a double mastectomy with Dana Rioux-Forker, MD, board-certified and fellowship-trained plastic surgeon at Saint Luke’s Plastic Surgery Specialists.
Dr. Rioux-Forker determined Annmarie was a candidate for direct-to-implant reconstruction, an innovative surgery that would allow her to have her mastectomy and reconstruction in one day.
Annmarie and Dr. Rioux-Forker talked with KCTV about this treatment that is changing the game for some breast cancer patients.
