    This April is the 23rd celebration of Donate Life Month,  established in 2003 to raise awareness for the life-saving impact of organ and tissue donation.

    As of 2024,  there are more than 100,000 people on the transplant waitlist, with over 80% in need of a kidney transplant.

    Dr. Matthew Wilkinson, a transplant surgeon at Saint Luke’s, joins Health News You Can Use to explain the importance of heart, liver, cornea, and tissue donation. He shares how the public can change lives by signing up to be a living or deceased donor and dispels myths that often circulate around the topic.
