Saint Luke’s East Hospital Awarded Center of Excellence in Specialized Prostate Treatment Accreditation

LEE'S SUMMIT, Mo. – Saint Luke’s East Hospital recently achieved accreditation as a Center of Excellence in Specialized Prostate Treatment, recognized for providing the highest quality of care and patient safety by Surgical Review Corporation (SRC), a nonprofit, patient safety organization that develops and administers best-in-class accreditation programs for medical professionals, surgeons, hospitals, and freestanding outpatient facilities throughout the world.

Status as an accredited facility means that Saint Luke’s East Hospital has met nationally and internationally recognized standards.

“We are so proud of our urologic services team for the exceptional care they give our patients every day,” said Bobby Olm-Shipman, Saint Luke’s South and East Region CEO. “It’s an honor to be the first hospital in the area to achieve this recognition. Our focus has always been on delivering the highest quality of care, and this accomplishment highlights our ongoing commitment and dedication to providing the best overall surgical experience.”

Health care facilities and surgeons seeking an SRC accreditation undergo an extensive assessment and inspection process to ensure the applicant meets SRC’s proven standards and requirements. These requirements include surgical volumes, facility equipment, clinical pathways and standardized operating procedures, an emphasis on patient education, and continuous quality assessment. The inspection involves all staff working with the surgeon in the accredited program. Inspectors educate staff on best practices to help an organization improve its care and services.

“We’re proud to recognize Saint Luke’s East Hospital for its commitment to advancing and providing quality care for all patients,” said Gary M. Pratt, CEO of SRC. “This accreditation signals that this facility is among the best in this specialty and is dedicated to delivering the highest level of care possible.”

The board-certified specialists at Advanced Urologic Associates practice at Saint Luke’s East Hospital. The team offers the latest in technology and therapies to treat a full range of urologic conditions.

“We have an incredible team, and we’re proud to be recognized as the leading urologic program in the Kansas City area,” said Bradley Stanley, MD, a urologist at Advanced Urologic Associates. “This advanced accreditation would not have been possible without the hard work and expertise of our physicians, nurses, and team members who make patient care and safety their number one priority.”
