KSHB: Routine Screening Leads to Lifesaving Heart Surgery for Shawnee Man

One local man's decision to get a routine screening led to lifesaving heart surgery.

Venkatesh Sridhar had a congenital heart condition and needed a mechanical heart valve. Something he may not have discovered until it was too late, if not for the routine screening.

KSHB talked to Dr. Deepthi Vodnala, cardiologist Saint Luke's Mid America Heart Institute, during American Heart Month about the importance of routine screenings to catch potential issues early.
