Driving Rehabilitation
Why choose us for driving rehab?
The Saint Luke’s driving rehabilitation program features occupational therapists dedicated to helping you return to safe driving following a medical condition, medical status change, or challenges related to the aging process. Our therapists work with you to assess whether you can return to driving safely, and then help with strategies and modifications for adapting to new physical and cognitive limitations.
What is driving rehab?
How it works
During your first appointment, your occupational therapist will perform an in-depth assessment of the visual, visual perception, cognitive, and physical skills necessary for safe driving. Your therapist will then create a comprehensive plan, which may include the following:
- Interventions and training to facilitate driving or to delay driving cessation
- Recommendation for an on-the-road driving assessment by an occupational therapist who is a certified driving instructor
- Additional assessments to clarify level of risk and ability to continue to drive safely or assessment of adaptive equipment for your vehicle
- Recommendation for driving cessation
