An electrophysiologist is a cardiologist who focuses on testing and treating problems involving irregular heart rhythms, also known as arrhythmias, and other conditions.
Saint Luke's electrophysiology program:
- Implants more than 1,500 cardiac rhythm devices annually
- Performs more than 800 electrophysiology studies and catheter ablations each year, including 450 left atrial ablation procedures
- Leads the region in electrophysiology research providing access to advanced investigational treatments, like the Watchman® device
- Developed a computerized protocol system to help prevent sudden cardiac arrest
- Enhanced community awareness of sudden cardiac arrest through the Heart Safe Community Partnership
