Founded in 1933, Saint Luke’s School of Medical Laboratory Science was among the first medical technology programs in the country. We are proud of our educational tradition of innovation and excellence. Our program prepares students to test patient samples and provide accurate and reliable test results that are vital to the success of medical practices.

As a medical laboratory student, you’ll have access to the latest molecular tests, technologies, and resources. The program exposes students to the most current scientific methods and clinical information to prepare them for a successful career.

The School of Medical Laboratory Science offers:

  • Rotations and experience in molecular diagnostics and flow cytometry
  • Instruction in a regional reference laboratory, which has a range of laboratory testing that is unmatched in the area
  • Lecture and bench instruction with certified medical laboratory scientists

Clinical rotations include:

  • Microbiology
  • Chemistry
  • Hematology
  • Immunohematology
  • Immunology
  • Molecular diagnostics

Details

Tuition and Fees

  • Application fee: $35
  • Matriculation fee: $275 (Must be submitted with acceptance letter to reserve a position in the program)
  • Tuition: $4,200 for 11-month program (includes a $200 lab fee)
  • Books: $200 (rental). Students may purchase new textbooks on their own if desired.

Accreditation

Saint Luke’s School of Medical Laboratory Science is accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Science (NAACLS), 5600 N. River Rd., Suite 720, Rosemont, IL 60018-5119; 773-714-8880. Upon completion of the program, students are eligible to become a certified medical laboratory scientist.

Career Opportunities

Medical laboratory scientists are in high demand. Employment opportunities for medical lab scientists exist in hospital labs, independent labs, forensic labs, and research labs, as well as positions in laboratory management, laboratory sales, technical support, information services, and public health.
