Magnetic Resonance Imaging Internship

The Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Internship is a 12-month certificate-based internship offered by Saint Luke’s Health System. Interns receive didactic education (two hours a week) along with a designated clinical experience schedule of (16 hours a week).

Admission Requirements

Approximately two students will be selected each 12 months. Students are selected on the following criteria:

  • Applicants must be a Radiologic Technologist and registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) and in good standing.
  • Applicant may be a Radiation Therapy Technologist registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT)
  • Applicant may be a Nuclear Medicine Technologist registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) or NMTCB and in good standing.
  • Applicant must be a graduate from a Joint Review Committee on Education (JRCERT) recognized institution.
  • Be a member of the ASRT for the Structured Education Requirement Continuing Education Credits
  • Applicant must be a high school graduate or GED recipient with a minimum of 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 grading scale.
  • Scores from two completed reference forms (supervisors or lead technologists only)
  • Scores from the behavioral based interview
  • Complete a four hour observation in an MRI department a documented on facility letterhead by lead technologist.
  • Applicant must meet the skill standards set forth by the MRI Internship.
  • Applicant must have reliable transportation to all the clinical sites.

Didactic Experience:

  • Students will participate in required weekly small group didactic session.
  • Attendance and participation at sessions are mandatory.

Clinical Experience:

  • Students will be assigned to all of the clinical assignments throughout the 12 month program by the MRI Internship Coordinator.
  • Hours will be flexible according to the students and clinical site’s needs; day, evening, night & weekend clinical schedules will enable the student to be employed and still pursue this internship.
  • Completion of all clinical assignments are mandatory.

After successful completion of the MRI Internship both the didactic and clinical components; students will be able to take the ARRT Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Registry Examination.

Tuition and fees paid to the Internship Program:

  • Tuition: $1,500
    Payment plans are offered
  • Application Fee: $25
    Due with the application form
  • Matriculation Fee: $100
    Due at acceptance

Additional Required fees:

  • ASRT membership: $125
    During 12 month program
  • ASRT RCEEM hours: $240
    During 12 month program
  • ARRT registry maintenance: $30
    During 12 month program
  • Post Primary ARRT MRI examination fee: $200
    After Internship completion
  • Textbook: $60-100
  • CPR certified
    During 12 month program

All students must carry Health Insurance for the 12 month program.

Evidence of enrollment documentation from above must be submitted on the first day of class.

All accepted students must successfully complete a drug screening, TB testing and a criminal background check.
