Last year, drug overdose deaths in the U.S. reached an all-time high at more than 107,000, according to a report released by the CDC last month. Nearly 80% of those deaths were due to synthetic opioids, like fentanyl, and prescription painkillers.

This week, we’re talking to Dr. Jeffrey Foster, interventional pain physician at Saint Luke’s Health System, about the dangers of taking opioids long term and safer, alternative treatment options for chronic pain.
