KSHB: Royals Welcome Woman Back to Kauffman Stadium After Surviving Health Scare

Last August, Sophie Hardin suffered a devastating brain bleed during a Kansas City Royals game. She was rushed to Saint Luke's Marion Bloch Neuroscience Institute, where a team of surgeons, doctors, and nurses worked quickly to save her life and get her on the road to recovery.

One year after she nearly lost her life, Sophie returned to Kauffman Stadium with her family and members of her Saint Luke's team to throw out the first ceremonial pitch and to see her favorite team.

KSHB talked to Dr. Andrew Schlachter, a neurointensivist at Saint Luke's, about Sophie's incredible recovery and the special celebration.
