KSHB: New robotic equipment helps stroke patients relearn to walk

Strokes can leave patients immobile and Saint Luke's has a robotic piece of equipment that helps stroke patients get their mobility back.

The Andago allows one nurse to help patients get more steps in than with the traditional therapy which normally includes two nurses to help. The Andago helps a young mother gain her strength, learn to walk again and get back to her children faster.

“This is a game changer for rehabilitation because it just allows us to deliver more intense therapy,” Dr. Brad Steinle, Physician and Medical Director, Rehabilitation Clinic, said.

Dr. Steinle and the mother spoke with KSHB about this new robotic therapy and how it helped her get home quicker.
