FOX4: Heart failure patient takes part in gene therapy clinical trial

Five million Americans have heart failure. Nine years ago, Melinda's heart was weakened by a heart attack. Melinda could barely get the strength to walk up stairs. She was in heart failure. Melinda's cardiologist at Saint Luke's Mid America Heart Institute, Dr. Bethany Austin asked her if she wanted to take part in a study on gene therapy, in hopes that it would regenerate heart tissue. 

"Try to deliver to the heart the tools to grow and new protein to hep it grow new muscle," Dr Austin said.
